Calendar of events 2006

Meetings are at 10 am on the 2nd Saturday of the month unless otherwise noted.  Meeting location will vary depending on activity.  Please email wildonesmo@yahoo.com or call Scott Hamilton at 882-9909 ext. 3257 for details.
 


Jan.14- Video brunch/social at the home of Nancy Brakhage.  We will meet for brunch at 10:00 am, please bring a dish to share. 
 
Feb.13 - Propagation workshop with Native Plants and Ann Wakeman – NOTE: meeting will be at 7pm Monday evening at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Shepherd Blvd. 
Directions:  From Old Highway 63, between Broadway and Stadium, turn east onto Shepard Blvd.  A few blocks down, you will see Shepard Elementary School on your right and the Unitarian Universalist Church on the left.

Mar. - Planned burn at one of our project sites.  Date & time to be announced. 
 
April 8  – Rain garden construction workshop with Hinkson Creek Watershed Restoration Project. 
Directions:  The raingarden workshop will be at the Missouri Conference Center of the United Methodist Church, off of Woody Ln, near the Bass Pro Shop on Highway 63, north of I-70.  

April 23 (Sunday) - Earth Day festival in downtown Columbia.  Come visit our booth.  Wildlfowers and native plants will be available for purchase.  Volunteers to help staff the booth are need.  

May 13 -  Wild One’s yard tour- tours of members’ yards.  We will visit three homes starting at 9:45 am.  Directions below. 


June 10-  Tour of two sites owned by the Colubmia Green Belt Land Trust.  These natural areas are in the heart of Columbia and both are undergoing restoration.  Come see these interesting places and learn more about their past and future.

Directions:  We will meet in the parking lot of Capen Park, which is off Rock Quarry Road just south of the intersection of College and Stadium.   We will first tour the adjoining Hinkson Valley Nature Preserve and after this carpool to the Spring Valley Preserve near Broadway and Clinkscales. 


July 8-  Wild One’s yard tours, continued.  Location TBA.


August 12 – joint meeting with St. Louis Wild Ones in St. Louis for a tour of the Alberici Corporate Office Tour.
Location: Meet at Alberici in the Courtyard at 10:00 a.m. (Potluck Lunch)
 
Sept.9 - Weeding and maintenance at one of our project sites.  Location TBA.
 
Oct. 14-  - Honeysuckle and euonymous eradication with the Green Belt Coalition.  Location TBA.

Nov. 11 -  Planning meeting for 2007.  Bring your comments, ideas, and suggestions for 2007 activities. 
 
Dec.   - No meeting - holiday break
